In-Home Autism Therapy Consultations
in North Carolina
The Cardinal Center for Behavior Analysis seeks to provide a warm and positive environment for children with autism to learn and grow. Using ABA therapy methods, we’ll teach your child the skills they need to live a fulfilling life and adapt to new situations.
If your child is struggling with their behaviors at home and in your community, it can affect the entire family unit. That’s why we offer in-home therapy sessions to work one-on-one with your child in a familiar setting.
Our In-Home Therapy
Our in-home ABA therapy sessions are suited for clients with mild to severe skill deficits, limited to no functional communication, and limited social skills. This insurance-funded program typically targets 30 hours per week and uses the Verbal Behavior Milestones Assessment and Placement Program (VB-MAPP), the Assessment of Basic Language and Learning Skills (ABLLS), and the Assessment of Functional Living Skills (AFLS) to track your child’s progress.
The first step is to receive a visit from one of our Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs), who will conduct their initial assessment and use this information to craft an individualized treatment plan tailored to your child’s specific needs. We’ll talk with you about your concerns and your goals for your child’s behavior, and factor this into their treatment.
About In-Home Therapy
The decision to pursue in-home therapy instead of therapy at our autism center will be based on what is going to best fit the needs for your child and your family unit. Like one-on-one therapy at our clinic, at-home therapy will involve your child working closely with one of our Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs) to meet different targeted goals.
During in-home therapy sessions, our RBT will follow the treatment plan outlined by our BCBA, using ABA methods. Our approach to in-home ABA therapy involves getting to know your child and learning as much as we can about them in order to provide them with the most effective therapy. We’ll discover the best motivators to engage your child and help them to learn and use that to reinforce positive behaviors; we’ll also isolate negative behaviors and replace them with constructive alternatives.
A Parent’s Role in ABA Therapy
ABA therapy has a component of parent training. When we teach parents to use the same tools that we’re using to teach your child, you can support them when our therapists aren’t present. This will give your child a more consistent experience and further reinforce their learning.
One of the benefits of in-home ABA therapy is that your child will immediately be able to put their skills to use in the home. Instead of associating positive behaviors with a therapy center or feeling that they only have to “behave” when our therapist is present, we can teach them in the moment, and pass on our strategies to you to reinforce them.
