Durham Autism Therapy

Individual ABA Therapy

ABA therapy is considered to be the “gold standard” in autism treatment, and has been since its development several decades ago. Unlike earlier versions of ABA therapy — which have since been criticized as too harsh — our approach focuses on getting to know your child in order to better understand how to provide them with the most effective treatment. We’ll figure out what motivates them to learn, then use that as positive reinforcement.

At our autism center in Cary, we offer one-on-one therapy sessions in a “classroom,” but we’re able to bring our services into your home or another natural setting if needed. After your initial consultation and assessment, our BCBAs will craft a personalized treatment plan for your child. Then, an RBT will work with them individually to meet the goals outlined by the BCBA and your family, whether it’s to develop communication skills or to replace negative behaviors with constructive alternatives.

Group Therapy in Durham

Group Therapy

During group therapy, your child will be placed in a group of 3-6 of their peers to work on different social, behavioral, or communication skills. Each child will be guided by a dedicated RBT to support them as they play and to help them meet their goals for the day, whatever they may be. As a parent, you’ll receive detailed reports of each session, outlining strategies for you to help support your child while they are engaging with others outside the “classroom.”
