Qualified Chapel Hill Autism Specialists
Our experienced staff is uniquely qualified to serve the exceptional needs of children with autism. Made up of highly educated Board Certified Behavioral Analysts (BCBAs) and Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs), each member of our team works together to create the most effective programs and treatment plans for our clients.
Our Autism Therapy Services
Our treatment programs are designed to be flexible in order to adapt to each client’s unique needs, taking into account their age, communication skills, and behavioral concerns, along with your family’s goals.
Individual ABA Therapy
Although it’s been considered the “gold standard” of treatment for children with autism for decades, earlier versions of ABA have since been criticized as rigid and harmful, but a lot has changed since then. ABA is lauded as the most effective therapy for autism because of its data-driven methods and measurable results. Our approach to ABA focuses on getting to know your child in order to figure out how we can best serve their needs.
We do this by finding out what motivates them to learn, then using that to craft our individualized treatment plan based on an initial assessment by one of our BCBAs. Then, an RBT will take this plan and enact it in their therapy sessions, working with your child one-on-one to help them develop their skills and reach their learning targets. While we offer individual ABA therapy through our center in Cary, if necessary, we’re also able to bring our services into your home or another natural environment.
Part of your child’s learning experience might involve interacting with a group of their peers. In our group therapy sessions, 3-6 children are placed together to engage in age-appropriate activities. Each child is supervised by a dedicated RBT to help them reach their targeted goals for each session, and parents will receive a detailed summary that includes different strategies you can use to help support your child outside of our “classroom.
Academic Classroom Program
One of our most popular offerings, our Academic Classroom Program is designed for children 3-16 years old to help ease their transition into a general education, public school, or employment setting. Your child will still receive a customized treatment plan, which takes into consideration their individual and functional needs, and accounts for supplemental instruction they may require, such as academic support for homeschooled children or community-based activities for life skills development.
