North Carolina Autism Resources

for Parents

As a parent, you want the best for your child, just like we do! We know how important it is provide you as much information as possible about your child’s treatment, because though they spend hours with us, we want you to have the tools you need to support them when they leave the clinic.

Our goal is to work with you collaboratively so that together, we can give your child a consistent learning experience in and out of the clinic. We want to be a partner and an advocate for you and your child, keeping you informed every step of the way.

Every child has unique needs, and every family has different goals for their child. Below are some resources and programming we offer to help support you, whether you just received an autism diagnosis or have been looking for the right ABA therapy placement for years.

About Autism

Autism, or Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), is a developmental disorder. Symptoms of autism usually appear in the first two years of a child’s life. Autism can manifest itself in several ways, including communication or socialization difficulties, specific or intense interests or obsessions, repetitive behaviors, each which can make it challenging to thrive independently. Luckily, with support, all of these behaviors can be modified and improved through ABA therapy.

About ABA Therapy

Because autism is a spectrum, each child is unique, too. At The Cardinal Center, we offer comprehensive ABA therapy that is programmed by a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) based on your child’s needs. In both individual or group ABA, a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) guides your child’s therapy sessions to target different skills and behaviors.

Support Groups

Our Family Resource Coordinator facilitates support groups for parents and siblings of our clients. These support groups are an opportunity for you and your children to meet people with similar life experiences and allows for an environment where families are able to support one another.
Parent support groups include meaningful discussions for adults and sibling support groups provide engaging activities for children. We know that you have your child’s best interests at heart, and we don’t ever want you to feel alone.

Before and After School Care

We know that it can be difficult to find suitable care for your child. Life can be busy and unpredictable, and that’s why we offer morning care in our indoor playground from 8 AM to 9 AM, and afternoon care from 3 PM to 4 PM. No prior sign-ups are required!

In-Home Consultations

We understand that children with autism can become stressed so we offer in-home consultation and coaching sessions to meet your family’s needs. Inquire within for details.
